Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Polysaccharide biosynthesis protein, CapD-like domain

This domain is found in diverse bacterial polysaccharide biosynthesis proteins including the CapD protein from Staphylococcus aureus PMID:7961465, the WalL protein, mannosyl-transferase PMID:9079898, and several putative epimerases. The CapD protein is required for biosynthesis of type 1 capsular polysaccharide. This domain is also found in FlaA1, a hexameric enzyme with inverting 4,6-dehydratase activity.
