FunFam 16: Cypemycin cysteine dehydrogenase (decarboxylating)

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Cypemycin cysteine dehydrogenase (decarboxylating). [EC: 1.3.99.36]
Cypemycin(1-18)-L-Cys-L-Leu-L-Val-L-Cys + acceptor = C(3,19),S(21)- cypemycin(1-18)-L-Ala-L-Leu-N-thioethenyl-L-valinamide + CO(2) + H(2)S + reduced acceptor.
  • Cypemycin, isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces sp. OH-4156, is a peptide antibiotic, member of the linaridins, a class of posttranslationally modified ribosomally synthesized peptides.
  • The enzyme decarboxylates and reduces the C-terminal L-cysteine residue, producing a reactive ethenethiol group that reacts with a dethiolated cysteine upstream to form an aminovinyl-methyl-cysteine loop that is important for the antibiotic activity of the mature peptide.
  • Formerly EC 1.3.99.n3.
