Superfamily: Murein tetrapeptidase LD-carboxypeptidase, N-terminal domain

This superfamily represents the N-terminal domain of muramoyl-tetrapeptide carboxypeptidases, also known as LD-carboxypeptidases. These enzymes are involved in peptidoglycan recycling and cleave amide bonds between L- and D-amino acids, which occur naturally in bacterial peptidoglycan. The N-terminal domain adopts a Rossmann-like fold, consisting of a central five-stranded parallel open twisted beta-sheet, flanked on both sides by a total of five alpha-helices PMID:22516613.
