Superfamily: Carbohydrate binding type-21 domain

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the carbohydrate binding type-21 domain which is, as it name indicates, carries out carbohydrate binding. The domain is named after proteins classified in carbohydrate-binding module (CBM) family 21, sometimes also called starch-binding domain (SBD) PMID:15939348. This domain occurs in several eukaryotic proteins implicated in glycogen metabolism.
