Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Bromo adjacent homology (BAH) domain

This entry represents the BAH (bromo-adjacent homology) domain which is commonly found in chromatin-associated proteins PMID:23907388. The BAH domain appears to act as a protein-protein interaction module specialised in gene silencing, as suggested for example by its interaction within yeast Orc1p with the silent information regulator Sir1p. The BAH module might therefore play an important role by linking DNA methylation, replication and transcriptional regulation PMID:10100640.
