"
RNA polymerase-binding protein A
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: RNA polymerase-binding protein A

Structural domains that comprise this superfamily share the structure of RbpA, a small non DNA-binding transcription factor that associates with RNA polymerase holoenzyme to promote transcription in actinobacteria. RbpA binds directly to the principal sigma subunit of RNAP, but not to more diverged alternative sigma factors and, therefore, it only stimulates transcription from principal sigma factor promoters PMID:23605043
