The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_4_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was: waiting to be named.

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: F-actin capping protein, alpha/beta subunit, N-terminal domain

The F-actin capping protein (CP) is a heterodimer composed of two unrelated alpha and beta subunits. Neither of the subunits shows sequence similarity to other filament-capping proteins PMID:2341404. This superfamily represents the N-terminal domain of the alpha/beta subunit of F-actin capping protein. It is part of a protein of about 280 amino acid residues whose sequence is well conserved in eukaryotic species PMID:2179733. In Drosophila. mutations in the alpha and beta subunits cause actin accumulation and subsequent retinal degeneration PMID:16143599.
