The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_4_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase, domain 1
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase, domain 1

The name has been chosen based on UniProt-SwissProt entries and available structural information. We can see that that the representative domain for this superfamily maps extremely well to a Pfam domain which belongs to a family known as ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase, with 96.7% shared residues. However, when looking at value for hared proteins we can see they are extremely small, only 1.2%, the reason being CATH divides this chain in two distinct domains. In consequence the name assigned for this superfamily includes the term domain 1.
