The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_4_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was: waiting to be named.

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Excisionase (Xis) protein

The DNA architectural excisionase protein Xis regulates the construction of higher-order nucleoprotein intasomes that integrate and excise the genome of phage lambda from the Escherichia coli chromosome PMID:17287355. It is the best characterised member of a large family of recombination directionality factors (RDFs) that control integrase-mediated recombination reactions PMID:15066428. This entry represents the 72 a.a. highly basic protein which exhibits a winged-helix fold PMID:17275024.
