The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_4_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:
"IrrE, HTH domain
".
1.10.10.1030
superfamily
This superfamily entry represents the HTH (helix-turn-helix) central domain from the metalloprotease IrrE, a central regulator of DNA damage repair in Deinococcaceae PMID:19150362. It is folded in a three-helix bundle, with the second and third helices forming the HTH motif. The IrrE HTH domain shows a high level of structural similarity to HTH domains of the Lrp/AsnC transcriptional regulatory family, although it is not located as expected at either C- or N- termini of the protein. Its central location (residues 126-167) was suggested to endow it with some specific properties PMID:19150362.
This domain is also found in HTH-type transcriptional regulators RamB PMID:15090522 and PrpC PMID:22916289. The entry also includes the catalytic domain of the protein ImmA (MEROPS identifier M78.001), a metallopeptidase containing an HEXXH zinc-binding motif.
