FunFam 29: Inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatase

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Phosphoinositide 5-phosphatase. [EC: 3.1.3.36]
1-phosphatidyl-1D-myo-inositol 4,5-bisphosphate + H(2)O = 1-phosphatidyl- 1D-myo-inositol 4-phosphate + phosphate.
  • These enzymes can also remove the 5-phosphate from Ins(1,4,5)P(3) and/or Ins(1,3,4,5)P(4).
  • They are a diverse family of enzymes, with differing abilities to catalyze two or more of the four reactions listed.
  • They are thought to use inositol lipids rather than inositol phosphates as substrates in vivo.
  • All of them can use either or both of PtdIns(4,5)P(2) and PtdIns(3,4,5)P(3) as substrates; this is the main property that distinguishes them from EC 3.1.3.56.
