FunFam 19: Glycosyltransferase

There are 6 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Sinapate 1-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.120]
UDP-alpha-D-glucose + sinapate = UDP + 1-O-sinapoyl-beta-D-glucose.
  • Some other hydroxycinnamates, including 4-coumarate, ferulate and caffeate, can also act as acceptors, more slowly.
  • Only glucose esters, not glucosides, are formed (cf. EC 2.4.1.126).

Indole-3-acetate beta-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.121]
UDP-glucose + (indol-3-yl)acetate = UDP + 1-O-(indol-3-yl)acetyl-beta-D- glucose.

    Cinnamate beta-D-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.177]
    UDP-glucose + trans-cinnamate = UDP + trans-cinnamoyl beta-D-glucoside.
    • 4-coumarate, 2-coumarate, benzoate, feruloate and caffeate can also act as acceptors, more slowly.
    • Involved in the biosynthesis of chlorogenic acid in the root of the sweet potato.

    Flavonol 7-O-beta-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.237]
    UDP-glucose + a flavonol = UDP + a flavonol 7-O-beta-D-glucoside.
    • Acts on the flavonols gossypetin (8-hydroxyquercetin) and to a lesser extent on quercetin, kaempferol and myricetin.

    Anthocyanidin 3-O-glucoside 5-O-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.298]
    UDP-alpha-D-glucose + an anthocyanidin 3-O-beta-D-glucoside = UDP + an anthocyanidin 3,5-di-O-beta-D-glucoside.
    • Isolated from the plants Perilla frutescens var. crispa, Verbena hybrida, Dahlia variabilis and Gentiana triflora (clustered gentian).
    • It will also act on anthocyanidin 3-O-(6-O-malonylglucoside) and is much less active with hydroxycinnamoylglucose derivatives.
    • There is no activity in the absence of the 3-O-glucoside group.

    Abscisate beta-glucosyltransferase. [EC: 2.4.1.263]
    UDP-D-glucose + abscisate = UDP + beta-D-glucopyranosyl abscisate.
    • The enzyme acts better on (S)-2-trans-abscisate than the natural (S)- 2-cis isomer, abscisate, or its enantiomer, the (R)-2-cis isomer.
