The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
NADP-dependent oxidoreductase domain
".

FunFam 13: NADPH-dependent codeinone reductase 1-1

There are 4 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
6'-deoxychalcone synthase. [EC: 2.3.1.170]
3 malonyl-CoA + 4-coumaroyl-CoA + NADPH = 4 CoA + isoliquiritigenin + 3 CO(2) + NADP(+) + H(2)O.
  • Isoliquiritigenin is the precursor of liquiritigenin, a 5-deoxyflavanone.

Codeinone reductase (NADPH). [EC: 1.1.1.247]
Codeine + NADP(+) = codeinone + NADPH.
  • Catalyzes the reversible reduction of codeinone to codeine, which is a direct precursor of morphine in the opium poppy plant, Papaver somniferum.
8 A0A286QJE2 A0A286QJE2 B9VRJ2 B9VRJ2 Q9SQ67 Q9SQ68 Q9SQ69 Q9SQ70
Aldehyde reductase. [EC: 1.1.1.21]
Alditol + NAD(P)(+) = aldose + NAD(P)H.
  • Wide specificity.
  • Formerly EC 1.1.1.139.
4 F2DXQ5 F2DXQ5 P23901 P23901
Methylecgonone reductase. [EC: 1.1.1.334]
Ecgonine methyl ester + NADP(+) = ecgonone methyl ester + NADPH.
  • The enzyme from the plant Erythroxylum coca catalyzes the penultimate step in the biosynthesis of cocaine.
  • In vivo the reaction proceeds in the opposite direction.
  • With NADH instead of NADPH the reaction rate is reduced to 14%.
  • The enzyme also reduces tropinone, nortropinone and 6-hydroxytropinone but with lower reaction rates.
