FunFam 633: 5-nitrosalicylic acid 1,2-dioxygenase

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
5-nitrosalicylate dioxygenase. [EC: 1.13.11.64]
5-nitrosalicylate + O(2) = 2-oxo-3-(5-oxofuran-2-ylidene)propanoate + nitrite.
  • The enzyme, characterized from the soil bacterium Bradyrhizobium sp. JS329, is involved in the pathway of 5-nitroanthranilate degradation.
  • It is unusual in being able to catalyze the ring fission without the requirement for prior removal of the nitro group.
  • The product undergoes spontaneous lactonization, with concurrent elimination of the nitro group.
