Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Troponin complex, TnI/TnT subunit

The troponin (Tn) complex regulates Ca2+ induced muscle contraction. Tn contains three subunits, Ca2+ binding (TnC), inhibitory (TnI), and tropomyosin binding (TnT). This family includes troponin T and troponin I. Troponin I binds to actin and troponin T binds to tropomyosin PMID:3102969 PMID:7852318 PMID:7601340.
