The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:
"5' to 3' exonuclease, C-terminal subdomain
".
FunFam 41: DNA-directed RNA polymerase
Please note: GO annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

---|---|---|
DNA primase activity GO:0003896
Catalysis of the synthesis of a short RNA primer on a DNA template, providing a free 3'-OH that can be extended by DNA-directed DNA polymerases.

DNA-directed 5'-3' RNA polymerase activity GO:0003899
Catalysis of the reaction: nucleoside triphosphate + RNA(n) = diphosphate + RNA(n+1). Utilizes a DNA template, i.e. the catalysis of DNA-template-directed extension of the 3'-end of an RNA strand by one nucleotide at a time. Can initiate a chain 'de novo'.

Mitochondrial genome maintenance GO:0000002
The maintenance of the structure and integrity of the mitochondrial genome; includes replication and segregation of the mitochondrial chromosome.
|
3 | P13433 (/IMP) P13433 (/IMP) P13433 (/IMP) |
DNA replication, synthesis of RNA primer GO:0006269
The synthesis of a short RNA polymer, usually 4-15 nucleotides long, using one strand of unwound DNA as a template; the RNA then serves as a primer from which DNA polymerases extend synthesis.
|
3 | P13433 (/IDA) P13433 (/IDA) P13433 (/IDA) |
Mitochondrial transcription GO:0006390
The synthesis of RNA from a mitochondrial DNA template, usually by a specific mitochondrial RNA polymerase.

Cytoplasm GO:0005737
All of the contents of a cell excluding the plasma membrane and nucleus, but including other subcellular structures.
|
3 | P13433 (/HDA) P13433 (/HDA) P13433 (/HDA) |
Mitochondrion GO:0005739
A semiautonomous, self replicating organelle that occurs in varying numbers, shapes, and sizes in the cytoplasm of virtually all eukaryotic cells. It is notably the site of tissue respiration.

Mitochondrial matrix GO:0005759
The gel-like material, with considerable fine structure, that lies in the matrix space, or lumen, of a mitochondrion. It contains the enzymes of the tricarboxylic acid cycle and, in some organisms, the enzymes concerned with fatty acid oxidation.

3 | P13433 (/IDA) P13433 (/IDA) P13433 (/IDA) |
Mitochondrial DNA-directed RNA polymerase complex GO:0034245
A DNA-directed RNA polymerase complex located in the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial RNA polymerase is composed of two subunits, a catalytic core, which resembles the enzymes from bacteriophage T7 and T3, and a specificity factor required for promoter recognition, which is similar to members of the eubacterial sigma factor family. In S. cerevisiae, these are encoded by the nuclear genes RPO41 and MTF1 and the specificity factor, required for promoter recognition and initiation, is not present in the elongating form.

Mitochondrial nucleoid GO:0042645
The region of a mitochondrion to which the DNA is confined.
