The name of this superfamily has been modified since the most recent official CATH+ release (v4_3_0). At the point of the last release, this superfamily was named:

"
SepF-like protein
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: SepF-like protein

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the cell division protein SepF, conserved in Gram-positive bacteria. SepF accumulates at the cell division site in an FtsZ-dependent manner and is involved for correct septum formation PMID:16420366. Mutants are viable but the formation of the septum is much slower and occurs with a very abnormal morphology. This superfamily also includes several archaeal related proteins of unknown function.
