Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ribonuclease P, Pop5 subunit

This superfamily contains proteins found in some eukaryotes and archaebacteria that are related to yeast RNase P. Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is a ubiquitous endonuclease that induces maturation of the 5' end of precursor tRNA (pre-tRNA). RNase P consists of an RNA molecule associated with at least eight protein subunits, hPop1, Rpp14, Rpp20, Rpp25, Rpp29, Rpp30, Rpp38, and Rpp40 PMID:10024167. This entry represents the Pop5 subunit, as it is named in eukaryotes.
