Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ribosomal protein S20

This superfamily entry consists of the ribosomal protein S20 found in bacterial (and chloroplast) small subunit 30S of the ribosome. Bacterial ribosomal protein S20 forms part of the 30S ribosomal subunit, and interacts with 16S rRNA. Structurally, the ribosomal protein S20 has a spectrin repeat-like fold, which consists of three helices, a close bundle fold and left-handed twist going up-and-down.
