Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: WPP domain

Structural domains comprising this superfamily share the structure of the WPP domain, thought to be exclusively found in plants. WPP stands for a tryptophan-proline-proline motif that is highly conserved in the domain PMID:11115866. This domains directs RanGAP (Ran GTPase-activating protein) to the nuclear envelope PMID:11752475. Non-RanGAP nuclear envelope proteins have also been shown to encode WPP domains, such as MFP1 attachment factor 1 (MAF1) PMID:11115866, WPP1 and WPP2 PMID:15548735.
