FunFam 75: Glycine N-acyltransferase

There are 3 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
Glycine N-acyltransferase. [EC: 2.3.1.13]
Acyl-CoA + glycine = CoA + N-acylglycine.
  • The CoA derivatives of a number of aliphatic and aromatic acids, but not phenylacetyl-CoA or (indol-3-yl)acetyl-CoA, can act as donor.
  • Not identical with EC 2.3.1.68 or EC 2.3.1.71.

Glycine N-benzoyltransferase. [EC: 2.3.1.71]
Benzoyl-CoA + glycine = CoA + hippurate.
  • Not identical with EC 2.3.1.13 or EC 2.3.1.68.

Glycine N-phenylacetyltransferase. [EC: 2.3.1.192]
Phenylacetyl-CoA + glycine = phenylacetylglycine + CoA.
  • Not identical with EC 2.3.1.13.
  • This enzyme was purified from bovine liver mitochondria.
  • L-asparagine, L-glutamine and L-arginine are alternative substrates to glycine, but have higher Km values.
