Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Rhamnose-binding lectin domain (RBL)

Latrophilins are adhesion G-protein-coupled receptors (adhesion GPCRs) and known receptors of alpha-latrotoxin, a neurotoxic component of black widow spider venom. Deficient Latrophilin3 expression is associated with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in humans. Vertebrate Latrophilin comprises of four domains: a rhamnose-binding lectin domain, olfactomedin-like domain (Olf), a glycosylated 100-residue linker and a GAIN domain PMID:27091502.

This entry represents the rhamnose-binding lectin domain (also known as the N-terminal lectin domain, Lec). RBL is composed of five beta-strands , a single, long alpha-helix, and two small helical elements. The overall fold is that of a beta-sandwich with two antiparallel sheets PMID:18547526.
