Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: DOCK DHR2 domain, lobe C

DOCK (dedicator of cytokinesis) proteins are potential guanine nucleotide exchange factors that activate some small GTPases, such as Rac, by exchanging bound GDP for free GTP PMID:12432077. DOCK proteins are required during several cellular processes, such as cell motility and phagocytosis PMID:12829596. Nucleotide exchange is catalysed by a conserved catalytic DHR2 domain situated within the C-terminal region which consists of three lobes. This entry represents lobe C of DHR2 which folds to form an antiparallel alpha-helical bundle PMID:21613211.
