FunFam 2: Tautomerase

There are 1 EC terms in this cluster

Please note: EC annotations are assigned to the full protein sequence rather than individual protein domains. Since a given protein can contain multiple domains, it is possible that some of the annotations below come from additional domains that occur in the same protein, but have been classified elsewhere in CATH.

Note: The search results have been sorted with the annotations that are found most frequently at the top of the list. The results can be filtered by typing text into the search box at the top of the table.

EC Term Annotations Evidence
2-hydroxymuconate tautomerase. [EC: 5.3.2.6]
(2Z,4E)-2-hydroxyhexa-2,4-dienedioate = (3E)-2-oxohex-3-enedioate.
  • Involved in the meta-cleavage pathway for the degradation of phenols, modified phenols and catechols.
  • The enol form (2Z,4E)-2-hydroxyhexa-2,4-dienedioate is produced as part of this pathway and is converted to the keto form (3E)-2-oxohex- 3-enedioate by the enzyme.
  • Another keto form, (4E)-2-oxohex-4-enedioate (4-oxalocrotonate), was originally thought to be produced by the enzyme but later shown to be produced non-enzymatically.
