Enzyme Information

1.4.3.22
Diamine oxidase.
based on mapping to UniProt P19801
Histamine + H(2)O + O(2) = (imidazol-4-yl)acetaldehyde + NH(3) + H(2)O(2).
-!- A group of enzymes that oxidize diamines, such as histamine, and also some primary monoamines but have little or no activity toward secondary and tertiary amines. -!- They are copper quinoproteins (2,4,5-trihydroxyphenylalanine quinone) and, like EC 1.4.3.21 but unlike EC 1.4.3.4, they are sensitive to inhibition by carbonyl-group reagents, such as semicarbazide. -!- Formerly EC 1.4.3.6.
