Ribosomal protein S3, C-terminal domain
".

Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: Ribosomal protein S3, C-terminal domain

This superfamily entry represents the C-terminal domain of the ribosomal protein S3, found in the small subunit of the ribosome. The superfamily includes the S3 from bacteria, algae and plant chloroplast, cyanelle, archaebacteria, plant mitochondria, vertebrates, insects, Caenorhabditis elegans and yeast. In Escherichia coli, S3 is known to be involved in the binding of initiator Met-tRNA.

The C-terminal domain has two layers (alpha/beta) with antiparallel beta-sheets.
