Functional Families

Overview of the Structural Clusters (SC) and Functional Families within this CATH Superfamily. Clusters with a representative structure are represented by a filled circle.

Superfamily: RNA polymerase, subunit delta, N-terminal domain

RNA polymerase (RNAP) is a multi-subunit enzyme with a high level of homology across several bacterial species, although there are significant differences in the number of subunits and the amino acid sequence. The delta subunit of RNAP consists of two domains: N-terminal (ordered structure) and C-terminal (unordered and flexible). The delta subunit was shown to be involved in the regulation of transcription initiation and in the adaptation to changes in the environment. This superfamily entry represents the N-terminal domain of the delta subunit PMID:24937760,PMID:20310067,PMID:23868186.
