"The associated literature refers to this superfamily as the head domain of Herpes simplex 1 virus ssDNA binding protein. The superfamily is such that it is not formed by a contiguous polypeptide chain within viral ssDNA binding protein.
The head domain interacts with the CTD of the protein and gives the CTD structure. The CTD is involved in increasing the ssDNA binding protein's co-operativity when binding ICP8, which is believed to stimulate helicase activity.
